Welcome to our city

Where to stay

Our Yangon hotel guide

For the wedding itself, staying downtown will make the weekend easiest.

Recommended · February 5–7

The ERAVATI Sule Grand Yangon

Our reception venue and the most convenient base for the main wedding dates. The hotel is in central downtown Yangon, close to Sule Pagoda, City Hall and Mahabandula Park, with modern rooms and a rooftop pool.

Wedding hotel

If you're planning to spend a little longer in Yangon before or after the wedding, we'd also recommend considering one of these hotels for your stay.

Governor’s Residence

Choose this for a charming, old-world stay in Yangon’s leafy diplomatic quarter. The restored teak mansion, shaded verandas, tropical gardens and peaceful pool evoke the atmosphere of historic British-era Yangon while feeling removed from the city’s intensity.

Lotte Hotel Yangon

A more modern luxury option overlooking Inya Lake. Its contemporary glass architecture, spacious facilities and lakeside setting make it a calm, polished retreat with a resort-like feel away from downtown traffic.

The Strand Yangon

A landmark colonial hotel dating to 1901, with high ceilings, teak details, elegant suites and a strong sense of Yangon history. It is downtown like The ERAVATI, so expect busy roads and traffic, but the location and heritage atmosphere are exceptional.

Where to eat

Restaurants we love

01

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge

Creative European-led dining in a beautiful lake house on Inya Lake. The tropical garden and waterside setting make it feel like an escape from the energy of the city.

02

Manpuku BBQ Restaurant

Wendy’s favourite restaurant in Yangon. A fun, relaxed Japanese barbecue experience with plenty of grilled meats, vegetables and sharing dishes.

03

Rangoon Tea House

A delicious introduction to Burmese food in a stylish, lively setting. It is an easy first stop for modern takes on local dishes, tea-shop favourites and classic Myanmar flavours.

04

The Marina

A reliable choice for excellent Indian food, with a broad menu of curries, tandoori dishes, breads and familiar favourites that work well for groups.

Yangon essentials

SIM

Get connected at the airport

Buy a local SIM card as soon as you arrive at Yangon International Airport. Ask for a large data package that will cover the full duration of your stay, and have the staff activate and test it before you leave the counter.

$

Exchange a small amount first

Change around $100 equivalent at the airport for immediate expenses, then exchange the rest at your hotel. Online exchange rates may not reflect the rates actually available locally, so treat Google’s displayed rate as a reference rather than a guarantee.
